Ilan Ramon, the first and only NASA astronaut from Israel, who perished with the rest of the Space Shuttle Columbia crew on February 1, 2003. The son and grandson of Holocaust survivors, he shares a cherished artifact from space: a miniature Torah scroll given to a colleague at his secret Bar Mitzvah in Bergen-Belsen. The filmmaker who brought you The Green Dumpster Mystery finds an old oil painting on the street and discovers it was created by Holocaust survivor Heddy Kun. He contacts Kun and the next day they meet. Tal is fascinated by Heddy’s colorful personality and her joyful paintings, a total contrast to her life story. The two decide to make an exciting journey to the Budapest ghetto, the place where Heddy spent the war with her grandparents and little brother. Directed by Tal Haim Yoffe. A correspondent for Israel’s Channel 2 news magazine arrived with his camera at Branko Weiss High School, in a disadvantaged neighborhood of Ramla, and stayed the entire year to document the amazing efforts of a 29-year-old principal and teachers who did not give up on their students, even though many of them had previously, and unsuccessfully, enrolled in 5-7 other schools. ZUBIN AND I

Documentary,  2010. World-renowned conductor Zubin Mehta is the Artistic Director/Conductor for Life of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO). The filmmaker, a writer for the popular Israeli and American TV show In Treatment, queries Mehta to understand the maestro’s complex relationship with the orchestra’s musicians. The documentary develops like a musical work. As it builds, the filmmaker reveals that his grandmother, Klaris Sarvas, was the first harpist of the IPO in the days of Arturo Toscanini and Leonard Bernstein. Directed by Ori Sivan.
